ARTIST | STEPHEN HODGES

One of the most original and stylized drummers of his generation, Long Beach native Stephen Hodges burst into the popular consciousness with his sonic & rhythmic contributions to the Tom Waits classics “Swordfishtrombones” and “Rain Dogs”. Known for his thoughtful accompaniment, unique tones, and ability to play alongside his own drum effects, Hodges is known as a drummer’s drummer. In addition to performing and recording with Chuck Berry, John Hammond, Wanda Jackson, and The Smashing Pumpkins, Hodges was also handpicked by David Lynch for his Twin Peaks: Firewalk With Me soundtrack. After a decade of backing up Mavis Staples, he joined guitarist Mike Baggetta and old friend Mike Watt to form the power trio mssv.
